No more IM for me

No more IM for me?Actually, it is not necessarily no more Instant Messaging, but it more of a “less IM”. I do not really talk that much on Yahoo Messenger, but I use it as a reason for procrastinating all the time (when I get bored, I browse my list and I am sure to find someone that needs to kill some time). This really gets my productivity down to a very low point.

So, starting from today, only 1 hour of IM/day (just to keep in touch with what happens).

Everybody that needs to contact me may do that by phone or by email (if not, then it is not that important in the first place :D ).

Actually, I will try this for a week. If I can increase my productivity, than I will try it for one more week… and so on and so forth.

Oh, by the way, if you are addicted to IM chat and you are using Yahoo Messenger, good news: you can now chat with your friends by SMS. Or other way to put it: you can now use Yahoo Mail to send SMS messages to your friends.

heh. i don’t have yahoo messenger at work and it’s a blessing. :D i mean, i could use webmessenger, meebo or alternative ways :-” but that’s a drag so i’m left without IM as long as i’m at work.

i don’t check my email account either so if anyone attempts to contact me they’ll do it over the phone if it’s really necessary.

also at home i’ve been using a method to not let yim stand in my way while sitting at the pc. buzzes don’t shake the window nor do they make any sound. message windows are automatically minimized when they appear, there are no sounds whatsoever, audibles are disable, IMviroments also. so yim just sits quietly in its corner.

Yeah, my IM has stayed quiet in a corner for the last 2 years, but I still have to set it aside :)

I will se how it works in the next week.

Now I understand Why you told:
    I DON’T USE YM !
Good point of view ! Maybe I will apply this method for me, to increase the productivity ! But not for the moment ! ;)

Hey Bobby, welcome to the grown-up world of the productive people!!

You should be careful with what you do after quitting the IM sessions, because you have a subconscious tendency to replace IM time with something else – as “useful” as IM. ;)
I have never been addicted to IM and man I’m happy for that!! :P
